Call for proposals: October 27, 2010
Response deadline: Wednesday, December 1, 2010, 12:00 noon - no exceptions
Award decisions: No later than January 10, 2011
Proposal limit: 2 pages
Information Sessions
Our staff will host information sessions to explain the new process, answer your questions, and discuss ways you can maximize Top Scholar funds.
We invite all GPAs, GPCs, chairs, and other pertinent department staff to attend. Because these will be small, individualized sessions (12-15 people),
we ask that you register on Catalyst: https://catalyst.uw.edu/webq/survey/megray/113921.
(If you and your colleagues would like to attend the same session, we suggest that one person register for all attendees from your department.)
Top Scholar Overview
Top Scholar Awards (TSA) is one component of The Graduate School Fund for Excellence and Innovation (GSFEI).
The primary goal for the TSA is to help programs attract outstanding students to University of Washington programs by partnering with units to build competitive
financial packages for their top student prospects.
Available Funding
This funding cycle is for the 2011-2013 biennium.
For specifics about what funding is available and the options you may choose from, please see Dean Baldasty's letter of October 27, 2010.
Proposal Format and Content
Proposals must be submitted electronically through MyGradProgram and must follow the outline described below.
Although proposals may be typed directly into MyGradProgram, best practice is to complete the proposals in MS Word or another word processing program and
copy the completed result into MyGradProgram.
Proposals should be no more than 2 pages in length and include the content listed below:
- Briefly describe your recruiting process
- In the following section list your request item(s) for Top Scholar Awards. Please address the following:
- Why such funding is integral to your successful recruitment efforts
- How such funding will be leveraged with departmental funding as required.
