How-to Instructions for Doctoral Supervisory/Reading Committees

Note:  Graduate Program Coordinators (GPCs - faculty advisors) are responsible for approving all doctoral supervisory/reading committees.  Departments/programs may have special instructions regarding requirements for doctoral supervisory/reading committees and students must consult with their departments/programs prior to establishing/revising their committees.

New Doctoral Supervisory Committees

1) Prior to submitting a Request for General Examination to The Graduate School, select at least 4 members for the committee -- a chair, a Graduate School Representative (GSR), and 2 additional members.
2) Provide the selected committee information to the Graduate Program Assistant (GPA - staff member) within the department.
3) The GPA will enter the committee information into the Department View of MyGradProgram (MGP).
4) Once the committee has been entered and submitted in MGP, committee confirmation e-mails will be sent to all members of the committee, the student, the GPA, and The Graduate School.

Revising Doctoral Supervisory Committees

1) Provide the revised committee information to the Graduate Program Assistant (GPA - staff member) within the department.
2) The GPA will enter the committee revisions into the Department View of MyGradProgram (MGP).
3) Once the committee has been revised and submitted in MGP, committee confirmation e-mails will be sent to all members of the committee, the student, the GPA, and The Graduate School.

New Reading Committee

1) Prior to submitting the Request for Final Examination to The Graduate School, select at least 3 members from the supervisory committee to serve on the reading committee -- a chair and 2 additional members.
2) Provide the selected committee information to the Graduate Program Assistant (GPA - staff member) within the department.
3) The GPA will enter the committee information into the Department View of MyGradProgram (MGP).
4) Once the committee has been entered and submitted in MGP, committee confirmation e-mails will be sent to all members of the committee, the student, the GPA, and The Graduate School.

Revised Reading Committee

1) Provide the revised committee information to the Graduate Program Assistant (GPA - staff member) within the department.
2) The GPA will enter the committee revisions into the Department View of MyGradProgram (MGP).
3) Once the committee has been revised and submitted in MGP, committee confirmation e-mails will be sent to all members of the committee, the student, the GPA, and The Graduate School.
