How-to Instructions for Doctoral Supervisory/Reading CommitteesNote: Graduate Program Coordinators (GPCs - faculty advisors) are responsible for approving all doctoral supervisory/reading committees. Departments/programs may have special instructions regarding requirements for doctoral supervisory/reading committees and students must consult with their departments/programs prior to establishing/revising their committees. Prior to establishing a new doctoral supervisory/reading committee, please refer to the important information regarding the composition, roles, and responsibilities of doctoral supervisory/reading committees provided through the following links.
Doctoral Committee Roles and Responsibilities New Doctoral Supervisory Committees
1) Prior to submitting a Request for General Examination to The
Graduate School, select at least 4 members for the committee -- a chair, a
Graduate School Representative (GSR), and 2 additional members. Revising Doctoral Supervisory Committees
1) Provide the revised committee information to the Graduate Program Assistant
(GPA - staff member) within the department. New Reading Committee
1) Prior to submitting the Request for Final Examination to The
Graduate School, select at least 3 members from the supervisory committee to
serve on the reading committee -- a chair and 2 additional members. Revised Reading Committee
1) Provide the revised committee information to the Graduate Program Assistant
