Final Examination for Master's Degree
As soon as is appropriate, the faculty in the student's graduate program appoints a supervisory committee, consisting of two to four members. The Chair and at least one-half of the total membership must be members of the graduate faculty. (see Graduate School Memorandum 13). The committee Chairperson arranges the time and place of the final examination, the results of which must be reported to the Graduate School by the last day of the quarter (last day of finals week) in which degree requirements are met. The examination may be oral or written, and all members of the supervisory committee must certify its results. If the examination is not satisfactory, the committee may recommend to the Dean of the Graduate School that the student be allowed to take another examination after a period of further study. A student must be registered the quarter in which any required exam or presentation occurs.
