Public Lectures Nomination Information

The Graduate School Public Lecture Committee is accepting nominations for the Walker Ames Scholars Program, Jessie and John Danz Lecture Series and Mary Ann and John D. Mangels Lecture Series.

The deadline for all nominations is 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2015.

Walker-Ames Lecture Series

The committee invites your nominations for the Walker-Ames Series for the next two academic years. Endowed in 1932, the series has hosted more than 400 scholars. The committee seeks nominations of scholars who are considered leaders in their respective academic fields. In co operation with academic departments and programs, we seek nominations that reflect diversity of background, ethnicity, and intellectual thought.

Jessie and John Danz Lecture Series

The committee invites your nominations for the Jessie & John Danz Lecture Series for the next two academic years. Endowed in 1962, the Jessie & John Danz Lecture Series has brought "public intellectuals" with national and international reputations to the University. The Danz bequest specifies that we host scholars "who have concerned themselves with the impact of science and philosophy on man's perception of a rational universe." In choosing Danz lecturers, the committee reviews both the nominee's record of accomplishment and his or her public speaking ability.

Mary Ann and John D. Mangels Lecture Series

The committee invites your nominations for the Mary Ann and John D. Mangels Lecture Series for the next two academic years. Endowed in 1990, the Mary Ann and John D. Mangels Lecture Series, in cooperation with GO-MAP, academic departments and programs, invites minority scholars or individuals whose work focuses on issues of diversity for the benefit of minority students, the campus community, and the general public.
