The Graduate School at the University of Washington proudly presents the 2014-2015 public lecture series. This series is being brought to the UW community, citizens of Seattle, and the State of Washington through three very generous private endowments: The Walker-Ames Fund, The Jessie and John Danz Fund, and the Mary Ann and John D. Mangels Fund.
2014-2015 Lecture Series
Weight and Wellness Series
As the home for interdisciplinary graduate study at the University of Washington, the Graduate School is pleased to host the Weight and Wellness lectures that explore the relationship between body and size, socioeconomics, nutritional scarcity, brain chemistry and environment. These eight lectures highlight the interdisciplinary work of experts at the UW and across the country as they explore the topics of food, nutrition and physical activity in relation to socioeconomic structures, brain chemistry, environmental influences and more.
All lectures are free and open to the public. To ensure a seat, please register in advance. Once registration for each event is available to the public, we will post link to register online on the individual lecture page. You can access the lecture pages by clicking on the pictures above. Please be advised that standby seating will be offered but a seat cannot be guaranteed without a reservation. Feel free to direct all registration related questions to the UW Alumni Association at 206.543.0540 or 800.AUW.ALUM.
Unless otherwise noted, all lectures will begin at 6:30 p.m. and take place in Kane Hall, located on the UW Seattle campus (see our parking/driving directions).
You do not need to be an alum of the University of Washington to attend or register.
* There will be a $5.00 admission fee for this lecture for non-students.
PLEASE NOTE: On a lecture-by-lecture basis, the University of Washington will attempt to offer standby seating to the Graduate School Public Lecture Series for those who did not or could not register in advance for a lecture. Standby seating is not guaranteed, and the UW reserves the right to amend the standby seating policy at any time with no further notice.
