Honoraria Awards for Departmental Seminar Speakers Award Definition and Policy Statement Honoraria awards are available to help departments bring distinguished visitors to campus to conduct seminars and confer with faculty and students. The maximum award amount per speaker is $500 and requires a departmental match. A restricted amount of funding is available each fiscal quarter[1] to support honoraria within the quarter. Funding will be approved on a first-come-first-served basis with adjustments to maintain equity in the process. Requests may be submitted at any time for any date during the fiscal year[2]. Once the funds for any quarter have been fully committed, the request system will be closed and will open again for that quarter only if cancellations are entered or unused funds from a preceding quarter are carried forward. Submitting a Request Requests for honoraria awards must be submitted by authorized departmental personnel using MyGradProgram. Faculty staff or students wishing to request matching funds for honoraria for distinguished speakers should contact their unit financial administrators for instructions and internal policies for their departments. The system will be open for submission of requests until all funds are awarded. Accessing Awards The award approval process in MyGradProgram will generate an e-mail message to the GSFEI contact and the requestor in the department. Award amounts are authorized to be spent from departmental GSF-RSA budgets (75-XXXX). No actual transfer of funds will occur. MyGradProgram provides documentation of award amounts. All payment processing will be handled by departmental personnel. Unit financial administrators should be consulted for internal procedures for accessing award funds. [1] Fiscal quarters are July – September, October – December, January – March and April – June. [2] The University’s fiscal year is July 1 – June 30.
