Prospective Student Days
Thursday, March 29 and Friday, March 30, 2012

Admitted prospective graduate students of color (starting their graduate work at the UW in Autumn 2011) are invited to join us for Prospective Student Days, or PSD. Prospective students will participate in departmental events while also enjoying GO-MAP sponsored activities including a reception, campus tour, and information lunch. Students have several opportunities to network with students and faculty from various departments and to learn about funding, housing, campus climate, and living in Seattle.

UW Departments, registration is required for prospective students to attend the events below. Please RSVP by downloading this sheet and emailing it to gomap at u.washington.edu to register your prospective student(s) for scheduled activities. PSD Schedule

Thursday, March 29

Welcome Continental Breakfast
8:30 - 10:00 a.m.
UW Club
Informal breakfast for students to meet; students will receive information about planned activities for the weekend. Financial aid, housing, and fellowships and assistantships office representatives will be available to answer questions.

Campus Walk
10:00 - 11:00 a.m.
UW Main Campus [Meet by Flag Pole in front of UW Club]
Prospective students will have the opportunity to speak with current graduate students from similar areas of study and to view different areas of campus.

Graduate Housing Information
Housing and Food Services offers a variety of options for graduate students. For information, please contact Housing and Food Services at hfsinfo@u.washington.edu or 206-543-4059, or stop by Schmitz 301 during business hours.

GO-MAP Spring Reception
4:00 - 6:00 p.m.
UW Club
This is an opportunity for current and prospective students to meet and mingle with faculty and current students. Light dinner will be provided.

Friday, March 30

Information Luncheon
11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Odegaard Library, room 220
Prospective students will have the opportunity to ask questions about financial aid, fellowships & assistantships, student opportunities and diversity at UW, campus resources, and living options in Seattle.

10 Survival Tips for Graduate Students: From the Faculty
2:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Odegaard Library, room 220
Dr. Clarence Spigner, professor in the Health Services Department, will conduct the session. All prospective students, and particularly students of color, are invited to attend a special seminar session.
