The Graduate School Dissertation Fellowships

With the support of the Office of the President, a program of fellowship awards was begun by The Graduate School in 1987.  These awards recognize outstanding doctoral students by providing funding for the recipients to devote themselves fully to completing their dissertations.  The duration of the award is one academic quarter.

Dissertation fellows are selected by one of two screening committees that review all nominated students.  The fellowship competition reviews nominations from department chairs in two groups; the arts & humanities and the social sciences & social professions.
