Call for Proposals

 (Deadline extended)

UW Graduate Students’ Focus on the World

April 4, 2008 - 1:00-5:00 p.m.

As part of the Graduate School’s theme of the year, The Internationalization of Graduate Education, we are pleased to invite UW graduate students in all disciplines to present their research in a symposium to be held April 4, 2008 from 1:00 to 5:00 in the Commons at Mary Gates Hall.  This graduate student research symposium will include concurrent presentation sessions and a poster session highlighting the international aspects of research being done by UW graduate students.

The purpose is to not only showcase UW’s globally relevant research but also to serve as a practice session for graduate students in communicating their research.  Because this is considered a training symposium, graduate students will be able to present this same research at later professional meetings with no consideration of ethics violations.  We welcome all proposals concerning the relevance of UW research on the world and are particularly interested in the following themes: education, environment, health, inequality, information, multicultural, poverty, science, and technology.  All UW graduate students are encouraged to apply.

Each presentation will be 20 minutes in length and may include presentations of conceptual models, professional applications or scholarly analyses.

Posters provide a format for information to be presented visually using charts, graphs, pictures, and other visuals and allow presenters and participants to have one-on-one contact and discussion.

DEADLINES:

1.      February 15, 2008 – submit a 100-200 word abstract to mm22@u.washington.edu.  Include contact information and whether you are proposing a presentation or poster format.
