Research Ethics Initiative

Description

North Carolina State University, with support from the National Science Foundation, offers a "Research Ethics Fellows Program" which provides stipends for ten doctoral students per year. The program sponsors workshops, a summer institute, and a three credit seminar--each of which aim to "provide training in ethical theory, critical thinking and pedagogy" for graduate students. The Graduate School Dean initiated the effort in 1998 by appointing a faculty committee to organize lectures, seminars, biennial institutes for faculty, and instructional modules.
