Student Guide

Description

The Graduate Division at the University of California at Berkeley has published "Easing the Way for Graduate Students: A Guide to Successful Departmental Activities in Support of Graduate Students." From a half dozen or more disciplinary perspectives, the Guide offers information on a wide variety of departmental practices relating to recruitment, orientation, coursework, oral exams, research and dissertation writing, presenting research, and the job search. The Guide stems from the Graduate Division's three-year study of the graduate experience at Berkeley, which revealed a strong endorsement by graduate students of special departmental activities which support students.
