The Graduate School Medalist Award is designed to recognize the
"scholar-citizen". This one-year, $10,000 award is given
to a doctoral candidate whose academic expertise and social awareness
are integrated in a way that demonstrates active civic engagement and a
capacity to promote political, cultural or social changed. The
awards rotate each year between two groups of disciplines.
