Graduate School Consulting Service

Description

Beginning in 2001-2002, the faculty and administration of the Graduate School's Intellectual Entrepreneurship Program (IE) will provide a consulting service to academic units (e.g., departments, graduate programs, scientific laboratories, schools/ colleges). For a negotiated fee (commensurate with the range and amount of services provided), we will offer students--in a disciplinary and/or content-specific environment--training and assistance in such areas as: academic and professional communication and writing, pedagogy, team-building and collaboration, technology, ethics, consulting and entrepreneurship. Like the existing cross-disciplinary Intellectual Entrepreneurship Classes (GRS), the consulting service is designed to help graduate students discover the enormous value of their scholarly expertise and to acquire the mindset, knowledge and skills required to maximize the value of that expertise and to be successful and resilient academic professionals. Consonant with the philosophy of the IE Program and courses, the objective of the consulting service is to aid academic units in putting into place effective and sustainable structures that enable graduate students to own their education and professional development.
