Joint Doctorate in Education

Description

Merging the administrative and programmatic components of private and public universities to create a streamlined highly professional doctorate that meets the needs of today's educator is a goal that has been sought by many organizations. Developing a model of single pay to bridge the financial gap that often exists between two institutions is an example of a practice that has provided one way to streamline the organizational structures that often get in the way of trying to offer a doctorate with two very different  universities. The world of technology has also created new and exciting avenues for educators from partnering universities to travel in bringing together faculty and students in the discussion of ideas and the pursuance of collaborative research.

This is the first professional doctorate that has been offered for educators in this region. It focuses on the high need areas of literacy and technology for leaders in educational settings. It is envisioned that graduates will be engaged in policy and program development in both the private and public sector as well as work in higher education.
