Computational Linguistics Program

Description

The Computational Linguistics program at Georgetown University addresses many issues in humanities/social science graduate education by successfully connecting students with non-academic careers in the growing field of human language technology. Program faculty provide 'truth in advertising' by posting placements on the program website and by advising all incoming Linguistics graduate students on prospects for academic vs. non-academic careers. The program empowers a diverse student body to pursue technology careers through accessible entry-level courses, state-of-the-art content delivered by male and female adjunct faculty from industry and government, and a certificate program in language technology. Most M.S. and Ph.D. students take positions in the field after their first year of coursework; they benefit from on-the-job learning, enhance the classroom environment, and contribute to a powerful career network.
