Dissertation Support Group

Description

A dissertation group utilizing cognitive and cognitive-behavioral strategies was conducted to facilitate momentum and progress toward completing participants' dissertations. Seven individuals participated meeting for biweekly, 2 hour sessions. Within a 2 year period, all 7 participants went from the pre-proposal phase to completed dissertations. Considerable mentoring also occurred (one student to another) around issues involved with internship applications and interviewing, as well as job-hunting and license preparation. As individuals moved toward completion, the group "morphed" into a professional development group.
