Doctor of Arts in Community College Education

Description

The National Center for Community College Education at GMU offers a Doctoral of Arts in Community College Education (DACCE). The program is designed for community college professionals and graduate students seeking careers in community college teaching or administration. All students must also earn the Graduate Certificate in Community College Education. What makes the program unique is that most of the required courses are in the student's area of study, enabling them to continue to the doctoral level in those academic fields in which they earned their Masters.

Each student's program of study is individualized and GMU's membership in the Greater Washington Universities Consortium affords students the opportunity of pursuing studies at other universities. Fields include administration, biology, business, computer science, economics, educational leadership, English and linguistics, foreign languages (French, German or Spanish), geographic and cartographic sciences, history, information systems and systems engineering, mathematics, music, physical education, physics, psychology, public administration, and sociology. The National Center also offers research opportunities and facilitates, and community college teaching and administration internships.
