Title

Joint M.D. / Ph.D. Program

Description

New York Medical College offers graduate students a joint M.D. / Ph.D. program that awards both degrees upon completion. While the usual program format for the M.D. is preserved, many of the Ph.D. requirements are completed as part of pre-clinical course work. Students then enroll in the Joint Degree Program after entering medical school. From an academic standpoint the program is joint only in that the joint degrees are awarded at the end of the program, although the student may have finished all the Ph.D. requirements two years previous to that point. Tuition for the last two years is waived for students who complete the Ph.D. requirements.
