Dual Degree Programs in Veterinary Pathobiology

Description

In order to address human resource demands for veterinarians both inside and outside the academy, the University of Illinois offers the Veterinary Medical Scholars Program leading to both the DVM degree and another graduate or professional degree, MS, Ph.D. or JD. Because the Department of Veterinary Pathobiology has obtained three USDA National Needs Fellowship Training Grants in the area of infectious disease as part of nearly $3 million in extramural research grant support, all graduate students receive an assistantship and tuition waiver. New strategies for recruitment require credentials that surpass those required by either program separately. Some elective coursework may be taken to satisfy requirements for both degrees.
