McNair Program

Description

The Ronald E. McNair Program at Howard University was established in the fall of 1995. It is housed in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and directed by the University's Graduate Dean, Orlando L. Taylor. As the nation's largest producer of African American baccalaureate degree recipients that go on to obtain Ph.D.s, and the nation's largest on-campus producer of African American Ph.D. recipients, Howard's participation in the McNair Program is particularly important. The McNair Program at Howard University is committed to enrolling twenty-two highly talented students each year in accordance with established eligibility requirements. Further, Howard University has committed to placing its McNair Scholars into year-round academic and research programs, as well as intensive summer research programs, all under the tutelage of faculty mentors.
