Title

Minority Opportunities through School Transformation (MOST)

Description

To create a variety of transportable strategies for change, the MOST program is working with eighteen diverse institutions and one regional cluster of colleges to improve the academic climate for students of color. The program targets five of the most critical elements affecting institutional diversity: departmental climates, curricula, research training, mentoring, and the academic pipeline. An Inequality Study Group sponsors speakers and workshops, works with faculty to revamp courses, and plays a key role in the mentoring process. The program recognizes mentoring as one of the most effective ways to bring about change. MOST holds an annual conference of site coordinators from participating universities, summer training institutes for students and faculty, and departmental visits which include face-to-face meetings with diverse students.
