The Center for Public Management and Regional Affairs

Description

The Center for Public Management and Regional Affairs, which is housed in the political science department, provides graduate students with hands-on experience in assisting local governments. This type of internship experience will increasingly become the norm in doctoral education as practical experience in government, public policy think-tanks and even in the private sector becomes more important for the placement of Ph.D.s. The Center holds that programs successful in securing non-academic work experience for their students will be increasingly attractive to prospective graduate students and successful in placing Ph.D.s in both academic and non-academic settings.
