The Dayton Area Graduate Studies Institute

Description

The Dayton Area Graduate Studies Institute (DAGSI) is a collaboration among the graduate engineering programs of five universities located in or near Dayton, Ohio. The founding members of DAGSI are the Air Force Institute of Technology, a federal institution; the University of Dayton, a private institution; and Wright State University, a state-supported institution. Its Board of Trustees consists of the member university presidents and representatives of regional industry and government including Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. DAGSI is a nonprofit corporation and receives state funding, primarily for student fellowships. There is also strong community support based on the belief that forefront engineering graduate programs are a fundamental resource promoting regional economic development. Each institution accepts the concept of an open transcript and students are encouraged to take 20-50% of their academic coursework (except thesis credit) from the other two collaborating institutions. Such courses carry the same weight as the institution's own and are not considered transfer courses.
