Description

North Carolina State's Graduate School uses awards from the U.S. Department of Education Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Needs Fellowship Program (GAANN) and the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Traineeship Program to implement interdisciplinary programs that incorporate many of the features of graduate education recommended in the COSEPUP report: recruiting efforts to increase representation from under-represented groups; interdisciplinary seminars, symposia, curricula, and research projects; government and industry internships; a year-long, intensively mentored teaching experience; opportunities for travel to international as well as national professional conferences; and presentations on career options beyond the Research I university.
