Co-Operative Student Program

Description

Merck Frosst participates in a co-operative student program. Our primary goal is to identify and bring in some of the best undergraduate students in the country to experience the type of exciting scientific research conducted in the pharmaceutical industry, and in particular, at Merck Frosst. We hope the experience will stimulate participants to pursue advanced graduate studies and careers in science. Students in our laboratories assist researchers in novel, and often basic, research. The research not only advances scientific knowledge and Merck Frosst's drug development programs, but also leads to important publications that can further the students' careers. Each co-op student is required to prepare a written work report for their home institution, which may also be evaluated by their Merck Frosst supervisor. Some student participants are later employed by Merck Frosst. In addition, many in-house research seminars are conducted at Merck, by our own scientists or by visiting lecturers, and students are encouraged to attend.
