The College of Engineering
at the University of Cincinnati, in collaboration with the
Physics and Chemistry Departments, presented a symposium to
bolster interdisciplinary research between the science and
engineering fields. Doctoral students who are engaged in
cross-disciplinary research presented their results in a
poster format. The symposium, titled "Symposium on Nano-,
Micro-, and Mesoscale Technologies in Science and
Engineering," also featured two talks by researchers from
outside of the university who are well-established in the
field of nanostructures and MEMs technologies. The symposium
was well-received; over forty doctoral students presented
posters to an audience of approximately one-hundred faculty
and students. As a result of the symposium's success, plans
are underway to organize a more general meeting of science
and engineering graduate students from other universities in
the Tri-State area who are engaged in cross-disciplinary
research.
