Research on Graduate Student Needs

Description

UNC-CH is developing a comprehensive plan for integrating academic and professional development into graduate education with special attention to doctoral students. A workgroup comprised of faculty, staff, and graduate students from various corners of campus have conducted extensive research on the needs of graduate students. The objects of the research included current graduate students, newly-hired faculty, alumni, directors of graduate study, and employers that have hired UNC graduates in the past. From this data, the workgroup is developing a list of skills graduate students will be advised to master before graduating. Programs and workshops will be offered throughout the year to assist students in meeting these competencies.
