Contributions to Society or Community
Mentoring

Fourteen respondents indicated that they contribute to society or the community by using their scholarly expertise acting as role models and mentors.   The following are samples of the data that were included in this category:

  • Mentoring that has been enriched by the observation, evaluation and analysis of the concerns of mothers who were writers
  • Advising and mentoring informally
  • Role model
  • Advising of sociology graduate students informally when contacted via email
  • Helping other women with higher degrees and career choices
