Contributions to Society or Community
K-12 Education
Fifty-three respondents indicated that they contribute to society or the
community by using their scholarly expertise in K-12 Education. The following are samples from the data that were
included in this category:
- Writing middle school curriculum
- Member of a committee to advise Seattle Public Schools on eliminating
disproportionality
- Outreach to high schools and participation in events like the science
Olympiad
- Volunteer French tutoring
- Consulting and advising at local school district
- Volunteer teaching
- Coaching kids in math
- Student counseling, curriculum design and pedagogical evaluation
- Volunteer at local high school once each year to speak to bio-med class on
epidemiology and research issues
- Assisting at elementary and high school
