Contributions to Society or Community
K-12 Education

Fifty-three respondents indicated that they contribute to society or the community by using their scholarly expertise in K-12 Education.  The following are samples from the data that were included in this category:

  • Writing middle school curriculum
  • Member of a committee to advise Seattle Public Schools on eliminating disproportionality
  • Outreach to high schools and participation in events like the science Olympiad
  • Volunteer French tutoring
  • Consulting and advising at local school district
  • Volunteer teaching
  • Coaching kids in math
  • Student counseling, curriculum design and pedagogical evaluation
  • Volunteer at local high school once each year to speak to bio-med class on epidemiology and research issues
  • Assisting at elementary and high school
