Contributions to Society or Community
Health Issues

Nine respondents indicated that they contribute to society or the community by using their scholarly expertise by working on health related issues.  The following are samples of the data that were included in this category:

  • Volunteering as an advocate for individuals recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and acting as a liaison with medical and financial services available to them in the community
  • Assessment of current mental health services and implementation of needed services
  • Teaching interns and other healthcare providers as well as patients about drugs and disease states
  • Consulting with health agencies
  • Giving health care advice freely to those who need it or who could benefit by it
