Contributions to Society or Community
Community Service

Thirty-two respondents indicated that they contribute to society or the community by using their scholarly expertise in local politics or community service organizations.  The following are samples from the data that were included in this category:

  • Big Brothers Community Service
  • Youth work, currently with the Boy Scouts
  • Outreach activities
  • Community activism
  • Participation in local planning/design activities and municipal design review boards
  • Presentation and workshops for local groups
  • Engaging in public debate over regional health and urban development issues
