Contributions to Society or Community
Board Membership

Twelve respondents indicated that they contribute to society or the community by using their scholarly expertise as board members for some organization.  The following are samples from the data that were included in this category:

  • Volunteering as a board member on a Multiple Sclerosis Board and in Mental Health Services
  • Member of a national environmental organization's citizen conservation board
  • Institutional review board professional
  • Member on state executive board of a national health organization to improve the health of infants and to reduce birth defects
  • Board member of community organizations
  • Board member and president of the Alliance Française de Seattle. Board member and secretary, French-American Chamber of Commerce.  Board member and National French Contest Administrator, American Association of Teachers of French
