When do I apply to the Graduate School?

Each degree program determines their graduate application deadline. Consult your program's application requirements page to get your program's application deadline and contact information.  Due to the time required for processing international applications, applicants applying for Summer or Autumn Quarters are strongly encouraged to submit the application and transcripts to the Office of Graduate Admissions by November 1.  Applications received after this date will be processed as soon as possible but significant delays may result.

What computer requirements are needed to apply online?

The Computer requirements for on-line applications are as follows:

Can I submit a paper application?

We realize that in some instances it may not be possible for an applicant to use the online process. The paper application takes 4 – 6 weeks longer to process than the online application but, if you *must* have access to a downloadable/printable version, you should contact the program to which you are applying. Some programs are still able to accept paper applications but most do not.

To facilitate your application you should make every effort to submit it online at https://www.grad.washington.edu/applForAdmiss/.

Where do I send letters of recommendation?

Many programs only accept letters of recommendation electronically after you designate the recommender in the online application.  Check your program's recommendation requirements before applying.  Go to http://www.grad.washington.edu/Programs/gradprogs.aspx and select your program to view the requirements.

How do I know my recommenders have submitted their letters of recommendation?

Once you have submitted your application, you can check the status of your recommendation letters by logging in to your application status page at https://www.grad.washington.edu/applForAdmiss/

Where do I send transcripts?

Many programs require unofficial transcripts electronically within the online application.  You may also be required to mail official transcripts to your program.  Check your program's transcript requirements before applying.  Go to http://www.grad.washington.edu/Programs/gradprogs.aspx and select your program to view the requirements.  **NOTE:  International applicants are required to submit a set of official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended to the Office of Graduate Admissions.  Review Graduate Admission transcript requirements in addition to your program's requirements at http://www.grad.washington.edu/Programs/gradprogs.aspx

How do I know the program has received my transcripts?

Once you have submitted your application, you can check the status of your transcripts by logging in to your application status page at https://www.grad.washington.edu/applForAdmiss/

How do I pay the application fee?

You pay the $50 application fee as the last step of the online application before submitting the application. The fee may be paid by Visa or MasterCard credit or debit card, or by electronic check (with a U.S. bank account only).

A limited number of need-based application fee waivers are available for U.S. citizens, Permanent Residents and Immigrants.  The fee-waiver application is part of the online application process.

How do I check the status of my application?

Once you have submitted your application, you can check the status of your application by logging in to your application status page at https://www.grad.washington.edu/applForAdmiss/
