After Getting Accepted

Q: What are my health insurance options?
Q: What immunizations do I need in order to enroll at the University of Washington?
Q: Why do I need to send another official transcript to Graduate Admissions?

Q: What are my health insurance options?

There are many options available to you as a University of Washington graduate student.

There is a Student Medical Plan available for students registered at the Seattle Campus, and for their eligible Dependents. The benefits are underwritten by MEGA Life and Health Insurance Company and administered by Welfare and Pension Administration Service, Inc. (WPAS).  The Student Accident and Sickness Insurance page provides detailed information on this plan.

In addition, Graduate students who have TA/RA/SA appointments may be eligible for an insurance plan provided by the University. If you have such an appointment do not sign up for the student insurance plan.  If you anticipate getting such an appointment you may want to consider purchasing the Student Medical Plan on a quarter-to-quarter basis. Detailed information on this plan can be found on the Graduate Appointee Insurance Program Overview page.  For questions about your eligibility for GAIP coverage, contact your department.

Q: What immunizations do I need in order to enroll at the Univesity of Washington?

A complete list of the immunizations you need are available on http://www.washington.edu/students/reg/immunization.html.

Q: Why do I need to send another official transcript to Graduate Admissions?

Applicants who are U.S. citizens, Permanent Residents or Immigrants and who have attended schools within the U.S. are asked to provide transcripts only to the department at the time of application. Applicants who are offered admission and choose to accept that offer are then asked to provide official transcripts from institutions that awarded them a bachelor's or higher degree to the Office of Graduate Admission in order to verify the degree and to complete the Graduate School file.
