Requirements and Prerequisites

Generally, a master's degree or equivalent in the same field of music or music performance from an accredited U.S. institution or its equivalent from a foreign institution.

Additional Deadline Info: Please submit this online application any time after July 1st but no later than December 15th (or no later than November 1st for international applicants). Note that there's no need to wait for your online recommendation letters to arrive before you submit this online application and mail the other requested materials to us. The recommendation letters will automatically be uploaded to your submitted application as they arrive.

Additional International Info: * The School of Music requires ALL international applicants whose native language is not English, EVEN those who have received a prior U.S. degree, to submit an official TOEFL score for admission consideration. Minimum score for admission to our doctoral programs is 100 on the TOEFLi (internet exam).

**Applicants who already have an unexpired F-1 student visa may observe the December 15th deadline.  Otherwise, international applicants must submit the online application and mail the application materials by November 1st.
