The academic program review of existing programs is scheduled by academic year.  The following timeline shows the approximate sequence of events for the unit under review.  Deadlines for submitting the self-study to the Office of Academic Programs are: September 1 (Autumn Quarter site visit), November 1 (Winter Quarter site visit), and February 1 (Spring Quarter site visit).

Initiation

Deans/Directors/Chairs are notified of scheduled reviews

 

Information Session

for units under review the following year

Spring/Summer Quarter, year one

Establish Site Visit Dates

 

Submission of Potential Review Committee Members

to Academic Programs

Spring/Summer Quarter, year one

Appoint Review Committee

UW Graduate Faculty for internal members

Peer institutions for external members

before Autumn Quarter, year two Submission and Distribution of Self-Study
Autumn Quarter, year two

Site Visit Planning Session

Program under review meets with Academic Programs to discuss site visit logistics

4-6 weeks before site visit

Review Committee Charge Meeting

Includes internal review committee, Deans from the Graduate School and program under review, and a representative from the Provost's Office

 

Site Visit

Review Committee meets with faculty, students, key staff, external constituents, Deans and representative from the Provost's Office

Review Committee Report

Committee submits final report to Academic Programs

Academic Unit’s Response

Response to Review Committee report

Graduate School Council

Consideration of Committee’s report and recommendations

With internal members of the review committee, representatives of program under review, and relevant Deans

Council will discuss "action plan" with College/School dean and program
